From 1st October 2017, The experienced team at Justice Risk Solutions (JRS), the first Canadian After-the-Event insurance brokerage, have moved to join up with TheJudge – the world’s largest and leading specialist litigation insurance and funding brokerage.

Who are TheJudge?

With offices in London, Manchester, California, New York and now Toronto and Vancouver, TheJudge has been the premier name in this industry since 2000 – www.thejudgeglobal.com
TheJudge Canada Limited is wholly owned by TheJudge Group Holdings Limited.

Who are TheJudge Canada?

The team include all the existing members of JRS, including founder Scott Smith and Nick Robson along with the support staff.

  • Scott Smith is deeply experienced in the world of insurance and has been largely responsible for expanding the reach of ATE insurance into Ontario and British Columbia. Scott will now have even greater resources to deploy his expertise for the benefit of his client and the market.
  • Nick Robson has been in Canada for 4 years but prior to that he was an underwriter with DAS in the UK. He has a strong reputation in the market both in the UK, and more latterly in Canada, as very strong technically as well as being a great innovator.
  • In addition, as a signal of TheJudge’s intent for their Canadian operation, Simon Tucker will be joining with his considerable experience as an underwriter in the field acquired during his time at DAS in the UK and at DAS Canada. Simon shares the same energy and forward thinking that all brokers at TheJudge must have to keep his law firm client’s ahead of the curve.

Business as usual for existing law firms

At the time of writing, TheJudge Canada is obtaining its regulatory licences to act as intermediary for existing law firms and new law firms. Until that point, all insurance transactions continue to be brokered by JRS.

Our team will be in contact as soon as the regulatory position allows for the transition from JRS to TheJudge Canada has been completed.

Both in the meantime and after the transition, you can continue to insure cases with your Program insurer in the normal way.
